For the light sleeper in your life, sleep headphones—which help block out sound and allow the wearer to listen to music while drifting off—could be a revelation. The Bose Sleepbuds pair is the only option we tested that legitimately masked sound. These headphones don’t offer full noise cancellation, but they do effectively reduce sound when worn and can further mask it by playing white noise or other sounds. However, they lack wireless streaming capabilities, so they limit you to preloading music and sounds from the Bose Sleep app. Even on sale, these earbuds are pricey for how limited they are—but if your loved one is desperate for noise reduction at night, we think these headphones are your best bet.

We think the Anova is the best sous vide machine for most home cooks because of its accuracy, relatively small size, and ability to work with a huge range of containers. The Precision Cooker offers moderate improvements over our main pick (the Precision Cooker Nano), including an adjustable clamp that can slide up and down the removable metal collar and expands to fit vessels up to 1.2 inches thick. The Precision Cooker also heated a water bath five minutes faster than the Precision Cooker Nano in our tests. At full price, these features and the Wi-Fi connectivity aren’t worth an investment, but at this sale price we think this model could be a good splurge for the right person.
